Yes, particularly for teams — Postman's shared workspaces, mock servers, and the sheer volume of public API collections you can import remain unmatched. If you're a solo developer or a small team that doesn't need that depth, Insomnia or Bruno will feel faster and lighter for the same core job.
Your API collections live as plain text files inside your Git repository, version-controlled and reviewed exactly like code — no separate account, no sync service, no risk of a third party losing or exposing your saved requests (which can contain real API keys and tokens). The tradeoff is you lose Postman-style team workspace features unless you build that around Git yourself.
Yes — Postman, Insomnia, and Hoppscotch all support scripted test assertions and CI integration (running collections automatically on every deploy). Bruno and Thunder Client are lighter-weight and less focused on heavy CI automation, better suited to manual testing and debugging during development.
A mock server simulates an API's responses before the real backend is built, letting frontend and backend teams work in parallel against an agreed contract. Postman and Hoppscotch both offer built-in mocking. It matters most for teams building API-first or working across separate frontend/backend teams with different timelines.
