10 tools scored · 7 dimensions
AI tools are software that use large language models to help you write, code, research, generate images, and automate tasks — at a speed and scale that would take a human many times longer.
The AI tools market moves fast. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, and Midjourney are very different products serving different workflows. The scores compare them across output quality, speed, pricing, and the specific capabilities that matter — context window, multimodal support, and integration depth.
What are you looking for?
I need an AI writing and research assistant
Output Quality and Context Window are your priority. Claude Pro scores highest on nuanced writing and long document handling. ChatGPT Plus leads on integrations and ecosystem breadth.

I want AI to help with coding
API Access and Integrations matter. For in-IDE assistance, look at Cursor and GitHub Copilot in the Code Editors category. For reasoning through problems, Claude Pro and ChatGPT Plus are both excellent.

I want image or video generation
Multimodal score is your guide. Midjourney leads for image quality, Runway for video. Gemini and ChatGPT Plus both offer integrated image generation.

Both are $20/month and excellent general assistants. Claude tends to produce more nuanced writing and is better with long documents (200k token context). ChatGPT has more integrations, built-in image generation (DALL-E), and a larger ecosystem of custom GPTs. Most users would be well-served by either.
The context window is how much text an AI can "remember" in a single conversation — including your messages, its responses, and any documents you paste in. A 200k token window (Claude) can handle roughly 150,000 words — an entire novel. A 32k window is about 25,000 words. Larger is better if you work with long documents.
If you use one daily for work — yes, for most people it pays for itself in the first hour. The free tiers of Claude and ChatGPT are good for casual use but have rate limits. Professionals doing heavy writing, coding, or research should pay for the speed and priority access.
For standalone chat-based coding help, Claude Pro and ChatGPT Plus are both excellent. For in-editor AI assistance, look at the Code Editors category — Cursor, Windsurf, and GitHub Copilot are purpose-built for development workflows.
Yes — all AI models "hallucinate" (produce confident-sounding false information) to some degree. Claude is generally more likely to say it is uncertain rather than fabricate. Always verify factual claims in AI output, especially dates, statistics, and citations.
How these scores are calculated
AI tool scores are based on published model benchmarks (MMLU, HumanEval, HELM), pricing as listed on official websites, context window sizes from official documentation, independent multimodal capability tests, and API documentation quality assessments. Output Quality scores reflect aggregate performance across writing, reasoning, and coding benchmarks. Scores reflect capabilities as of mid-2026.
